Delete your account

How to permanently delete your JV Ledger account and what happens to your data.

1. Delete from inside the app (recommended)

  1. Sign in to JV Ledger.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Under Delete account, choose Delete account.
  4. Re-enter your password and type DELETE to confirm.

Only a business owner can delete the account. Deletion takes effect immediately.

2. Can’t access the app?

Email us from the address registered to your account and we will verify your identity and delete it for you, normally within 7 days.

We only action requests that come from the account’s registered email, so nobody else can delete your account.

3. Export your data first

Deletion is permanent. Before you delete, download a full backup of your books: sign in, open Downloads, and use Export account data to save a JSON copy of your records.

4. What happens

  • Your login, name, email and phone number are permanently removed — you will not be able to sign in again.
  • Your business identity (business name, GSTIN, address and logo) is erased.
  • Your active subscription is cancelled; you will not be billed again.
  • Every staff member you added loses access to this business immediately.
  • This cannot be undone. Download a backup first if you want to keep your records.

What is deleted

Your account login and all personal and business identifiers — your name, email, phone number, business name, GSTIN, address and logo — are erased, and your subscription is cancelled.

What is retained, and why

Financial transaction records (vouchers, payments and related ledger entries) are kept in an anonymised form — no longer linked to you or your business — because Indian tax law and fraud-prevention obligations require books of account to be retained for several years after a business closes. These records cannot be used to identify you.

Backups

Residual copies of your data may persist in our encrypted database backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are overwritten by the normal backup rotation. Your deleted account is never restored from backup.
